Sparkle #193: Business Advice from TV Shows

Happy Monday folks! I looked at the calendar today and realized it’s almost June – the middle of the year. I cannot believe the pace at which this year is moving. I feel like I am always playing catch-up with both my personal and professional to-do list. There’s always so much to be done, and so little time… Thinking about life, time and my lengthy list of things to do always brings my spirits down. So to cheer up my Monday, I thought of seeking advice from some of my favorite people in the world – TV show characters! A while back, I wrote a post…

Sparkle #163: Travel with the Holiday Magazine

I recently came across some illustrated covers for the Holiday Magazine, and was curious to know more about their content and readership. The Holiday Magazine was first published in the US between 1946 – 1977, and it introduced a new and exciting glamour and lifestyle travel format for it’s readers. What set the magazine apart from it’s contemporaries was it’s strong aesthetic sense, a fun and creative layout, stellar photography and brilliant writing. An art house in Paris relaunched the magazine in 2014. They started with the essence of the first version, but also added trends from the current century to make it more…

Victory of Good over Evil

India celebrated the festival of Dussehra last week. Dussehra is a very popular festival which celebrates many events – the victory of good king Rama over demon king Ravana, the victory of goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur, the festival of Navratri and the nine divine nights of fasting as well as a couple of other mythical happenings from across the country. It also marks the beginning of winter and kick starts the festive season in India, with Diwali being the next big celebration around the corner. The underlying message across each of the above events is the same – the festival of Dussehera celebrates the victory of good over evil.…

Sparkle #3: Paris – Always a Good Idea

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope your week is coming along well. On Tuesdays, I like to do a travel themed post – so what if the body is stuck in office, we can let the soul wander for a bit! This week, I am obsessing about all things PARIS! Even though I have never been there, I have a deep love and longing for this city. I am hoping and wishing that 2015 is the lucky year when I will finally get to visit Paris. Till the time that dream is realized, I wanted to share some of my favorite links and resources on all…
