Sparkle #166: Vintage Holiday Cards

Happy Monday folks! It’s almost Christmas, and I cannot wait until the holiday season officially kicks in sometime next week. With less than 10 days to go for Christmas, I have been obsessed with finding the perfect holiday cards which I can share with my loved ones. I think I am strongly leaning towards vintage themed holiday cards this season. Just browsing through some of these cards makes me feel so warm and happy inside. They remind me of a simpler, nicer time and a Christmas spent with family, friends, love and gratitude. These vintage cards reinforce the values of the holiday, and help us focus on all the wonderful…

Sparkle #129: Black, White & Red Photography

What is the easiest way to add a twist to classic black and white photographs? Simple – just add a dash of red and turn your vintage shot into something supremely attractive. A pop of red in a classic black and white frame adds a touch of glamor, brightens up an otherwise subtle shot and also helps draw attention to a particular object. It makes your photograph stand out, as the colorful aberration in an otherwise neutral background immediately catches one’s eye. Sparkle #116: Illustrated Playing Cards

Illustrated playing cards are so much fun to look at, they almost always end up distracting me from the game! Illustrations done for a pack of playing cards tend to be creative as well as extremely versatile. Given that a deck of cards has restrictions of space and content, it requires a massive stretch of the artist’s imagination to come up with something unique and interesting. There are all kinds of illustrated playing cards – artistic and playful, vintage and contemporary, multicolored as well as black and white and so on – the list is endless! Here are some interesting playing card illustrations which caught my eye, do you like them…

Sparkle #109: Owl Dreamcatchers!

Do you like dreamcatchers? I absolutely love them and have more than one hanging in my study right now! Dreamcatchers have their origin in native american culture, and have of late been popularized by New Age groups and individuals. A dreamcatcher is traditionally a good luck charm which is hung over the beds of children so it can catch and filter out all bad dreams and allow only good thoughts to enter the mind. I feel that it is even more relevant in today’s times. We all need a dreamcatcher in our lives, so that we wake up to positivity and happiness every morning! I have dreamcatchers in my…

Sparkle #108: A Pink & Blue Summer

I am in love with two colors this summer: dreamy lavender pink and ice cold blue. There’s something about pairing pink and blue together, whichever shade or hue you might pick, it almost always works! And when you pair lighter shades of pink and blue, you get a palette which is fresh, happy and adds the perfect pop of color to a hot summer day. These two colors remind me of all things pleasant: cherry blossoms, cotton candy and Disney princesses! They have a surreal and vintage vibe to them, so make sure you pair these two whenever you want to channel your inner Cinderella! To celebrate my love for these…
