Travel Wishlist: 2023 Edition

At the start of each year, I make a travel wishlist where I shortlist a few places I want to visit in that year. I believe in making what’s on my mind very clear to the Universe, so it can conspire actions from my intentions. This is why this blogpost of mine took me to Paris in 2015! I stopped making these lists when Covid struck in 2020, but 2023 seems like an year of hope and dreams coming true, so here I go, putting my list out there again. Sparkle #200: Colorful Buildings I Want To Visit

Color always makes me happy!  I go crazy with the camera when I spot a multicolored building during my travels. There are many wonderfully constructed, artistic, multi-hued buildings around the world – a testament to the amazing talent of creative artists everywhere. For today’s post, I thought I would share pictures of 30 odd colorful buildings which really caught my attention while browsing the web. You will be delighted and mesmerized by the gorgeous colors, beautiful designs and the interesting ideas which led to the creation of these masterpieces. Sparkle #186: The Rainbow Mountains of China

Look at the above image carefully. This photograph of brightly colored mountains seems surreal, almost as if it were a painting. It seems like something I would draw in my art class with a bunch of bright colored crayons. But this picture is very real – these rainbow mountains actually exist! These mountains form the landscape of the Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park in China’s Gansu province. How did Mother Nature create this wonder? From what I understand as a layman, this is the result of several years of erosion and folding of layered rock and mineral crust. If you want to dive…

Sparkle #181: Love and Longing for NYC

My travel wishlist is forever growing. As I add on new destinations every year, I also keep some time to visit places which have endeared to me on my previous travels. As a traveler, you sometimes discover cities and towns which feel familiar, almost like they belong to you and you belong to them. It’s a little like falling in love – each time you set foot in this place, you feel happy, calm and at home. At the same time you feel excited and energized, ready to take on whatever the world throws at you with new vigor and enthusiasm. New York for me,…
