I recently damaged a pair of sandals by losing the embellishments on top. Even though I have lost the embellishments, the sandals are still in good shape which is why I don’t want to throw them away just yet. I have been looking for ideas to use them, so I was extremely delighted when I stumbled upon a super easy ‘gold owl sandal‘ tutorial on Ryan’s blog.
She uses a really simple technique to convert plain gold sandals into funky owl ones by attaching metallic owls from necklaces to the top of the sandals. If you have been reading my blog, you know I am obsessed with owls and I actually happen to have a couple of similar looking owl necklaces lying in my jewelry box. By using some strong thread, I can easily attach them to the top of my sandals and upgrade to a new look. You can switch the owls for something else you fancy or something which is easily available at your home, say for instance elephants, or stars.
This DIY is clever, easy and uses minimum material so I am excited to give it a shot this weekend! If you have a pair of sandals or flip flops which you want to customize, try attaching a piece of jewelry like the artist did in this DIY and tell me how it turned out!
