We are celebrating illustrated art on the blog this week, and for today’s post I wanted to share my favorite type of travel illustrations – illustrated travel maps! An illustrated map comes in handy when you want to know the character of a place in one quick glance. It highlights top attractions, routes, things to do, places to eat and other quirks for a particular destination in a light and easy to absorb manner. It is fun and colorful to look at it, can be easily stored on your phone as an image or a wallpaper and serves as a quick reminder for key attractions when traveling to…
It’s August, which means we are nearing the end of summer! As the season slows down, take some time off from your hectic schedule for one last summer break! And what better place to celebrate summer than Spain? Every year, on the last Wednesday of August, several thousands of people get together to participate in the La Tomatina festival in Buñol, Spain. It is a fun tomato throwing event organized in the Plaza del Pueblo. People get together for a big food fight and throw tonnes of over ripe tomatoes at each other. It is an eagerly awaited summer event, and a highly popular tourist attraction for…
Hello wonderful people and happy Sunday! I woke up feeling real good this morning. It could be because it’s Sunday, or because we have amazing (rainy) weather, or simply because today is the anniversary of my maiden trip to Kashmir, Leh, Ladakh in 2013. If I call Paris my teenage crush, then Kashmir is definitely my first love! I undoubtedly have the travel bug, I fall in love with places in an instant. I was 8 years old when I first discovered the beauty of Kashmir while participating in an art project. It was on my travel list for a long time before I finally got the chance to…
I am in love with two colors this summer: dreamy lavender pink and ice cold blue. There’s something about pairing pink and blue together, whichever shade or hue you might pick, it almost always works! And when you pair lighter shades of pink and blue, you get a palette which is fresh, happy and adds the perfect pop of color to a hot summer day. These two colors remind me of all things pleasant: cherry blossoms, cotton candy and Disney princesses! They have a surreal and vintage vibe to them, so make sure you pair these two whenever you want to channel your inner Cinderella! To celebrate my love for these…
I love Paris and New York – both cities are my absolute favorites and close to my heart for so many different reasons! I discovered Paris via books and movies and fell in love with it in an instant. Thankfully, my maiden visit this summer only deepened my love for the city! New York on the other hand was my first solo international trip, and the incidents and experiences on this trip helped shape my overall outlook on travel. New York will always be special for me as it awakened my wanderlust and forever changed my perspective on solo travel! Both the cities have distinct personalities and histories, and a discussion on the…
