Hello beautiful people, are you ready for spring? I know I am! Today is the Spring Equinox, which marks the beginning of spring across the world. Today is one of the only two days in the year when the day and night are equal in length and perfectly in balance! Coincidentally, today is also the International Day of Happiness and the start of the Persian New Year. Which in my mind is kind of perfect, because how can one feel anything but happy on a balmy spring day in March?
I am always on the lookout for special rituals that one can create to mark days like these. So today, I want to share with you a list of 5 things you can do this week to welcome both spring and happiness in your life! You could try all the activities on my list, or just embrace the ones that truly call out to you. Even better, perhaps you could share your own list of rituals so we can all try something new!
#1: De-clutter your space
Get rid of anything which has lost it’s meaning or consequence over time – clothes, books and even thoughts! Let go of old habits and ideas so you can make space for new ones.
#2: Plant something green
Head over to your garden and plant something that you can nurture and grow over the coming months. The entire exercise will give you a crash course in patience and kindness. And you will feel truly happy and blessed when you see the first signs of a flower or fruit sprouting in your garden next season.
#3: Get out in the sun
Spring is the perfect season to get outdoors and appreciate the beauty of mother nature! If the magic of seeing both summer and winter at the same time won’t make you giddy, then the gorgeous multicolored blooms all around you sure will! Get outdoors, feel the sun on your face, the wind in your hair and take time out to smell the flowers along your way.
#4: Start something new
Isn’t spring the time for new beginnings? Whether it is getting back on track with the new year resolutions that you might have already forgotten, taking another shot at an old hobby or starting something new – use this as an opportunity to make a fresh start. The positive vibes around will ensure you flourish at whatever you pick.
#5: Embrace gratitude and positivity
An attitude of gratitude can really turn your life around. I have been practising gratitude affirmations for the last 3 months, and I can already see a difference in my outlook towards life. This morning I got a not so good update at work, but even though I was dejected for a few hours, I managed to look at the bigger picture and smile through the day. Even the hardest winter gives way to spring eventually – so smile, be positive and thank God for every single blessing you have in your life!
