Hello everyone. How is 2015 shaping up for you? As we step into the third month of the year, I wanted to share something which will help inspire and set the tone for the rest of the year.
In one of my initial posts on ‘setting intentions for the new year’ I had pointed you to Susannah Conway’s exercise on choosing a word which will guide and motivate you throughout the year.
I gave it a shot too and came close to choosing my word in the first week of January. But I was still doubtful on whether I had selected the right word and unsure of how it would guide me through the rest of the year. So I decided to dwell upon it a little, and in the last two months, the entire universe came out in full force to let me know I had indeed chosen the right word.
So even though I am a little late, I am happy to announce that my word for 2015 is LOVE!
Love – such a small word, and yet such powerful intentions! I chose this particular word over all the others, because it really spoke to some of the changes I want to bring into my life in 2015.
To start with, I really want to learn to love myself. To love where I am right now, and be grateful for all the blessings I have. I want to make my decisions based on self-love more than anything else. For instance, I want to make healthy choices because I love my body, I want to write this blog because I love curating and I want to travel because it makes me fall in love with myself!
Next I want to love life and the people I have in my life. I want to enjoy and revel in the abundance of what I have been blessed with. I want to love my family and spend more time with them this year. I want to be more patient and appreciative of everyone around me, and let go of biases, judgement and anger. And I want to learn how to listen, share and care so I can love and give more to the entire world!
So here it is – my guiding light for 2015! I intend to be conscious of this and work on it throughout the year. But I can already tell you, it is not easy! I struggle everyday to change my thoughts and attitude. However, the good part about setting an intention is that having a clear idea and vision of what I want to achieve through the year makes me realize when I fail, and helps me get back on track almost instantly.
It is also important to be aware and conscious of how this intention manifests in our lives throughout the year. Like I said before, I saw several signs in the past 2 months which helped me realize that ‘Love’ was indeed destined to be my word in 2015. The day I completed the exercise, I saw this large sign in office (I had never noticed it before!), and the following week I read two wonderful horoscopes for my sun sign. Also, interestingly, a large number of posts on my blog have been ‘love’ themed in the last couple of weeks – happy coincidence?
To keep myself aware and interested in my word, I have started a Pinterest Board and updated my desktop wallpaper. I will also do regular check-ins on my blog, since I announced it here first! Apart from this, I am soon going to start publishing my Daily Affirmations and Gratitude Journal, where I will write about happy and serendipitous moments from my life. I am also contemplating having a mantra, but haven’t decided on something appropriate yet. And lastly, I will try this 12 day love yourself challenge from Buzzfeed to stay on track with my word.
Have you ever set a word and seen it guide you through the year? What is your word for 2015? And how do you keep it in your daily thoughts? I would so love to know all about it, so drop me a note in the comments below. Wishing everyone much love and light in 2015!
