At the start of each year, I make a travel wishlist where I shortlist a few places I want to visit in that year. I believe in making what’s on my mind very clear to the Universe, so it can conspire actions from my intentions. This is why this blogpost of mine took me to Paris in 2015! I stopped making these lists when Covid struck in 2020, but 2023 seems like an year of hope and dreams coming true, so here I go, putting my list out there again.
Spend Summer in Tokyo
Tokyo has been on my wishlist for several years now, and I had plans to visit the city in 2020(!). I first fell in love with Tokyo from Tara Milk Tea’s Instagram. Tokyo offers both – traditional vistas swept by cherry blossoms as well as cutting edge art, science and technology. Combine this with plenty of Instagrammable foods you can try in the city, and you have a hot travel destination in your hands! I don’t think I can wait any longer, I hope I get to make the trip this year.

Visit Los Angeles in Fall
I booked and cancelled a trip to LA in 2019 due to personal reasons, and have been itching to get a chance to book it again for so long now. My big reason to go to LA – Hollywood! I really want to grab a bite at the Central Perk Cafe, shop for some luxury goods at Rodeo Drive and get clicked at the Walk of Fame! And I intend to round up my trip with this La La Land themed tour of the city.

Welcome Winter in Turkey
Update: The devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria this year have left me heartbroken. This post was scheduled before the calamity took place. Please consider donating towards relief efforts.
Turkey with its layered influences from both Europe and Asia, can best be described as a magical travel destination. The destination lives up to this hype: you can get indulge yourself with French pastries or fulfil your magic carpet dreams with a hot air balloon ride. While popular itineraries to the country are largely anchored on the cities of Istanbul and Cappadocia, my interests also lie in the mountainous region of Rize, which seems like a European fairytale come true (my sea favouring friends can check out the coastal town of Kas, fresh and charming). A trip to all three regions will likely not happen in one go, but here’s hoping I am able to do any one in 2023!
Below are my top guides for each of the above mentioned regions in Turkey:
- Istanbul
- Cappadocia
- Rize (This hotel is very popular on Instagram)
If I end up going to any of these places this year, I will publish my own travel guide on the blog. Until then, click through the above resources, or share your own in comments below.
